Shircola Powell ("Ms. Cola") is a Raleigh, NC native. She graduated from Broughton High School in 2007 and obtained her bachelor's degree from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2011. She later attended law school and received her Juris Doctor from Florida Coastal School of Law and is a practicing attorney, realtor and dance educator.
Shircola began her dance training at Vereen's School of Dance in Wendell, NC, at the age of 3. She's trained in ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical. In college, Shircola danced for the school's hip hop team. Shircola is also a retired professional cheerleader for the Carolina Hurricanes ("Go CANES!")
Although Shircola has a dual career as an attorney and realtor, she has always had a passion for dance. She enjoys teaching, educating and mentoring young girls, as well as helping them become the best they can be, whether in the professional corporate world, or the dance world.
Shircola has spent many years as a youth advocate, as she also serves on the Board of Directors for the Wake County Boys & Girls Clubs and S.A.G.E. (Saving Adolescent Girls Everywhere).
Shircola has always wanted to own her own dance studio, and as a serial entrepreneur, co-founding SC Dance Company was destined to be.
Shircola is excited to see all the heights SCDC reaches and be a part of the growth and development of her dancers.
Chelsea Adams, originally from Andrews, South Carolina, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance and Choreography from Columbia, SC. She began dancing at age 2 and started competing at 12. With training in recreational gymnastics and acro dance, she specializes in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, and Lyrical styles. Chelsea has participated in summer dance intensives, including Alvin Ailey in New York, and has traveled to Brazil for further dance exploration. Over the years, she has taught both recreational and competitive dance and coached gymnastics. She later obtained her teaching license and is currently in her 7th year in public education and 5th year with WCPSS, Chelsea is dedicated to her students.
Outside of dance, Chelsea is happily married with three children. Family is her top priority, and she enjoys spending weekends engaged in family activities and traveling.
